Service Areas
Business Training and Resources
We conduct agribusiness training statewide, often in collaboration with other service providers within the industry on various business topics including marketing, preparing for taxes, finding and leasing land, working with lenders, etc.
We also develop industry resources and tools. We co-developed the Hawaiʻi Agribusiness Guidebook, we offer a land matching service database, and we maintain an extensive list of agriculture and business resources on our Farmer Resources page.
Statewide Consulting
The AgBusiness Team provides one-on-one support for farm and food businesses statewide on topics such as:
- Business strategy and planning, to help define, focus, and achieve your goals.
- Establishing recordkeeping systems that provide consistent, accurate, and timely financial and production data. Allowing clients to better understand their financial performance, develop cash flow projections, and cost of production analysis.
- Market/feasibility research for new or existing products, developing a business case for agritourism or value-added products, and marketing strategy. We can also assist with establishing an internet and social media presence, and help with brand and logo development.
- Determining appropriate financing needs, identifying the best funding source, and assisting with the application process.
- Succession planning and land matching.
- On-farm food safety reviews.
- Equipment selection and infrastructure planning.
Connect to Resources
Through our relationships with faculty and staff in the University of Hawaiʻi system and relevant industry partners, the AgBusiness Team can assist clients in identifying and connecting to resources related to capital (loans and grants), land access, markets, and agricultural production.
Our services are typically free and clients are accepted based on the team’s capacity and the scale of the project.
Our team also provides AgBusiness training support through partnerships and collaborations with organizations across the state that align with our mission.
