Celebrating Variety! at The Variety Showcase Goes Tropical

Posted March 16, 2018

A big, bright Mahalo to The Culinary Breeding Network for all their contributions to the Food & Farm Scene and for selecting Hawaii as their first satellite Variety Show outside of Portland.

We are very glad you decided to #GoTropical 🙂  Another grand thank you to all the Farmers, Chefs, Breeders, Teams, Talents, Creatives and Cool People that brought everything together (especially our very own Jay Bost- Captain of the Farm Nerds;). Our hearts, brains & bellies are so full.

Here’s a blurb and some pics:)

The Variety Showcase Goes Tropical 3/13
It was an exciting Celebration at The Variety Showcase Goes Tropical Event hosted by the Culinary Breeding Network & GoFarm Hawaii this March at Kapiolani Community College. An array of mind blowing crop varietals combined with culture and cuisine were brought together and blended brilliantly in bite sized tastings made by local Chefs at over 15 action stations.  Agricultural leadership on all levels and farmers on all scales attended to see what’s being conjured up in the food & farm scene for Hawaii’s future. Mahalo to all who supported the event and we hope to see everyone at the next one.
FOMO (Fear of Missing Out)
If you have fear of missing out, here’s a few teasers from the event to give you an idea of what happened while you were somewhere else:)))
Let’s start with a little dessert… Daniel & Kelly’s Green Gold Avo Key Lime Pie
Gabe’s Banana Cookies & Cream
Rob & Scott’s Jicama Pancake
A little Main Dish…
Ted & Roy’s Moringa Malungay Fried Rice & Lechon Lomi
The Appetizer Type
Jim & Bryan’s MH8 Pepper Ceviche
A few Crop Varietals for your Visuals:
Carrots
Indigo Tomatoes

Blue ‘Olena
That’s all we can muster right now… It was quite the whirlwind.  If you were there you witnessed the magic, if you weren’t, click here to see all the professional photos by Photographer Shawn Linehan.
